Prof. Hari Bahadur Srivastava is a distinguished academician and geologist who served as the Vice Chancellor of Siddhartha University, Kapilvastu. He has nearly 40 years of academic experience, largely centered at Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

Vice Chancellor at Siddhartha University
A senior professor with an academic experience of about 40 years, Prof. Hari Bahadur Srivastava assumed duties as Vice Chancellor of Siddhartha University, Kapilvastu, Siddhartha Nagar, on Thursday, 1 July 2021. Prof. Srivastava has a very vast and impressive academic as well as administrative experience.

Ph.D. in Geology
After obtaining his Ph.D. degree in Geology from Banaras Hindu University, he joined as Lecturer in 1981 and was appointed Reader in 1991. In 1999 he was appointed Professor in the same department. He has carried out Post-Doctoral Research at the University of Minnesota, USA, under the National Fellowship Programme, Government of India, from March 1991 to April 1993, and a Research Associateship under the Marie Curie Fellowship programme of the European Economic Community at the University of Rennes, France, in 1993–94.

Before joining Sikkim Alpine University, Sikkim, Prof. Srivastava was the Dean of Faculty of Science at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. He was also International Students Advisor and Chairman of International Centre, BHU.

Member of a national steering committee
Presently, he is a member of the Steering Committee for implementation of the National Mission on Himalayan Studies, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, and a member and Chairman of the Governing Body of Birbal Sahani Institute of Paleobotany, Lucknow.
